Our History
Blue Grass Sod Producers Ltd. is a family owned & operated sod farm that was established by Ed & Helen Hackie in the the early 1960s.
They were the first sod farm in Stead to begin harvesting peat sod for homeowners & businesses in Manitoba
It all began with a hands on approach using a small manual sod cutter & loading the truck bound for Winnipeg by hand. The equipment has changed, but we still maintain a hands on approach with our sod, from seeding to harvest, sales & customer service, deliveries and our sod installations.
Our sod farm is located at Stead, Manitoba and is now operated by Russ & Joan Hackie along with their sons Caleb & Ezra (Carlie). Team work makes the dream work!
We proudly continue to grow & supply the same top quality sod & offer excellent service to homeowners, golf courses, grounds keepers & landscape contractors for residential and commercial projects.
