Delivery Truck Driver: Class 1 License with Air

Full Time
Starting date May 2024 – Oct/Nov.
Successful applicants must have the following:

  • Valid Class 1 Drivers license with Air
  • Supply a Drivers Abstract
  • 1 to 2 years experience driving semi truck.

We are willing to consider less experience for the right applicant. ie: Good attitude & work ethic. Willing to learn.
*Must have -Your own transportation to our yard south of Winnipeg – non bus route.
Experience with Moffett or Spyder Forklift an asset but, training will be provided.

Job Requirements:

  • Weekdays & evenings.  Also Saturdays.
  • Delivering sod in and around Winnipeg – loading & unloading pallets with Moffett or Spyder forklift.
  • Moderate to Heavy lifting of sod  & wooden pallets as needed. Approx 27kg (60 lbs)
  • Simply put, this is not a sit & steer job.  We are known for our delivery service.

Some deliveries are full pallets, others are not.  That means our drivers don’t mind getting their hands dirty by handling the sod when needed for deliveries.

  • Tarp & Secure sod loads on the trailer.
  • Securing Moffett or Spyder Forklift on back of trailer
  • Great customer service skills. We are known for our customer service & our customers are priority.
  • Good communication skills –  English verbal & written.
  • Be able to work under pressure.  The season is busy and fast paced.
  • Able to work alone or with others.
  • Reliable & give attention to detail.
  • Personal Safety Equipment required: steel toed boots/shoes, gloves etc.
  • This job requires: bending, lifting, must able to climb on & off the forklift & trailer.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sod in Winnipeg & Surrounding areas in a safe & timely manner
  • Pallets of sod or individual sod rolls are to be placed as instructed on site in a neat & orderly fashion.
  • Pre & Post trip inspections: truck, trailer & forklift
  • Perform general maintenance of truck, trailer & forklift = air tires, top up fluids, grease, fuel,etc.
  • Keep shop mechanics updated on any issues or concerns on equipment.
  • Make sure all paperwork is given to the customers & proper documents returned to the office.
  • A good knowledge of our products & their care.  Be able to answer customer questions or direct them to the appropriate office staff who can assist them.
  • Pick up empty pallets from delivery sites as needed.

Work environment varies from dry & dusty to wet & muddy.

Class 3 Driver – Flat Deck & Dump Truck

Starting Date: May 2020
Successful applicants must have the following:

  • Valid Class 3 Drivers license
  • Supply a Drivers Abstract
  • 1 to 2 years experience driving flat deck & dump truck.  We are willing to consider less experience for the right applicant. ie: Good attitude & work ethic. Willing to learn.

Must have Your own transportation to our yard south of Winnipeg – non bus route.

  • Great customer service skills.
  • Good communication skills –  English verbal & written.

Job Requirements:

  • Delivery of top sod, soil, gravel, mulch & other landscaping materials.
  • Delivery of landscaping equipment to sites as needed.
  • Working on landscaping sites as needed.  Basic Landscaping experience is an asset, but training will be provided.

Sod Farm Jobs – Field Work & Sod Piling

Full Time – Seasonal Positions Available
Location: Stead, Manitoba @ Our Sod Farm

Job Requirements:

Farm Work

  • Sod piling,  grass trimming, field packing, general field maintenance. 
  • Operating farm tractors & implements, large mowers & packers
  • Manual labour, moderate to heavy lifting  wooden pallets & sod approx. 27kgs/60lbs
  • This job requires bending and lifting.
  • Carry out all work in a safe, timely manner.
  • Weekdays & Saturdays

Skills

  • English language spoken & written
  • Able to work with others & independently as task requires
  • Critical thinking
  • Able to work under pressure. The sod season is busy & fast paced.
  • Continuous learning
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Pre & Post equipment inspection: fuel, fluids, tires, etc & alert field manager/mechanics of any issues or problems.
  • Experience is always an asset, but we will train.

Dress according to conditions

Steel Toe boots required & personal safety equipment. ie: gloves, goggles etc as needed.
